So you bought your domain name and hosting from provider like godaddy, bigrock, bluehost, hostgator or any other, and now wants to use them to showcase your work!
Ok, let’s start the process by connecting domain name and hosting together.
Link / Connect domain name to hosting server
If you have domain name and hosting from same or different provider i.e. domain name is on godaddy and hosting is on godaddy, or domain name is on bigrock and hosting is on godaddy, or domain is on hostgator and hosting on bluehost, or any combination of domain name and hosting provider, same method will be used to Link connect domain name to hosting server, after which you can see your created webpage on any browser just by typing the domain name in url bar.
Phase 1: Get Nameserver Details from hosting account
Step 1: For obvious reason, you have to login to your hosting providers account and find any link which says Nameserver Details or similar.
Step 2: When you click on that, it will show you two values similar to
ns1.somevalues.com
ns2.somevalues.com
Step 3: Copy both values and paste them on notepad or any text editing application.
Phase 2: Change Nameserver values of domain.
Step 1: Now login to your domain name providers account and look for the domain, which you want to link with hosting.
Step 2: Select the domain name, and find any link which says Nameserver Details or similar.
Step 3: When you click on that, it will show you two values in textbox, similar to
ns1.defaultvalues.com
ns2. defaultvalues.com
Step 4: Now copy the first value of hosting Nameserver (that we have acquired in Phase 1- Step 2) and replace the domains first Nameserver value.
Step 5: Repeat the Step 4, to replace the second Nameserver value of domain.
TADA, we are done here.
The process of link connect domain name to hosting is completed.
Now wait for 3 to 24 hours to reflect the new Nameserver details changes, because Nameserver propagation takes this much time to reflect new changes.
Once propagation is successful, when you type your domain name in url bar, it will show you your default hosting page.
In case, propagation is successful and your domain is still not showing the default page, Clear all cache and browser data and open your domain again.
